What is the history of Stop The Chop?
A Message With a Wider History
“Stop the Chop” is a simple phrase with a much wider history.
Across different countries and communities, the words have been independently used in environmental campaigns and community movements — from efforts to protect the rainforests of Malaysian Borneo to campaigns defending mature trees, wildlife habitat and green spaces in parts of the United Kingdom and the United States.
Although the places and individual campaigns differ, the idea behind the words remains much the same: once established trees, wildlife habitat and natural places are lost, they cannot simply be replaced overnight.
Here in Adelaide, the phrase has been used in conversations about the future of our Park Lands, urban trees, wildlife and habitat.
Stop The Chop Shop takes inspiration from that broader idea, creating clothing and designs that help keep conversations about parks, trees, wildlife and habitat visible in everyday life.
How are your designs created?
Our designs begin with original ideas, messages and creative direction developed here in Adelaide. We use a combination of digital design tools, including AI-assisted technology, as part of the creative process.
AI does not produce a finished design that is simply placed onto a garment. Every design goes through numerous rounds of human review, selection and editing. This includes refining the artwork, correcting details, adjusting colours, improving layouts, preparing transparent backgrounds and ensuring the final design is suitable for garment printing.
We also order and personally test samples of many of our garments. These items are worn, washed and dried to help us assess the garment quality, print durability and colourfastness under normal use. Care instructions should always be followed to help protect both the garment and the printed design.
Each final product reflects human ideas, judgment, editing and hands-on testing—not simply the output of an automated tool.
Can I request one of your designs on a different garment?
Yes, possibly. If you love one of our designs but would prefer it on a different T-shirt, hoodie or other available garment, email us at hello@stopthechopshop.com.au.
We may be able to arrange a one-off item using your preferred garment, depending on availability, colour, sizing and whether the design is suitable for that particular product.
Custom one-off orders may have different pricing and production times. We’ll confirm what is possible before you place the order.
